How to: Create your own awesome 80's band.
You will need:
- No dance or choreography skills
- Matching sweat shirts with your band name on (one for you, one for your band mate)
- A rad band name, preferably repeating a fun word like, say...fun?! "Fun Fun" it is.
- The ability to move your body in a carefree and loose manner. Movements need not be in time with your song.
- Some friends to help create a large cardboard-jungle set to shoot your video in.
- The ability to convey fear to your audience through facial expressions when becoming lost in large sheets of paper in your music video
- Any kind of stimulant drug to increase your sense of belief in your cardboard-jungle (refer to 1.20 in video to view effectiveness)
Optional:
The use of animatronics to simulate a toy Panther's mouth opening and closing.
Good luck! See video for result. Now, I've got a train to catch...to Happy Station!!!

FUNDRAISER ALERT OMG!
About a month ago, Mara alerted me to a very touching article in Frankie Magazine about an inspirational Cambodian woman called Somaly Mam. Why is Somaly so awesome? Well, she survived a horrible upbringing after being sold into the sex trade at the age of 12. After escaping she went on to establish The Somaly Mam Foundation, an organisation that helps rescue and rehabilitate children in the same predicament.
I was both disturbed and touched by Somaly's journey. After reading the article I spent the next few days thinking 'I wish I could so something....anything.' Then I decided that I could do something, even if it is small. I would like to contribute some money to Project Futures, a not for profit company who aim to empower and engage a generation in raising awareness and funding to combat sex trafficking globally.
So this was my idea: if I could get ten of my friends to donate $10 each, that would mean $100 contributed to the organisation. Cool. But why not give my friends something cool for their ten bucks? Introducing, the Somaly Mam Party Pack! Each pack includes:
- My latest zine, shown in the picture below, and judging from Mara's excited expression, it's a riot!
- A Summer Time Party Mix CD - 14 slamming tunes chosen by me specifically for summer lovin
- Information about Project Futures and Somaly, including the article that initially inspired me
- A glowstick
- Mara's Mystery Gift
All this, enclosed in a cute recycled paper pack. There are only ten so you must get one. You simply must.
HOW DO YOU GET ONE!?
When: Tuesday 24th - from 7pm in the evening!
Where: My house - text directions if you've not been here yet
What: Information about the cause, buy your pack ($10), have a piece of cheese, chat, leave.
Dress code: Smart casual
Who: You and us
I am excited. I hope you can support this cause! Let's do it! As Dolly Parton says, "We cannot direct the wind, but we can adjust the sails."

Young, strong and proud!
I came across this awesome hip hop song written and performed by some little ladies from Cherbourg in Queensland. Seems like a rad project to get kids involved in. Also brings back memories of letting off steam on the netball court. Love the whistle sample too!
Enjoy.
Enjoy.

Warmed my little heart....
Here is an image that has rocked my morning. This guy, Ryo Taira, owns a pet shop in Japan and manages to look super stylish whilst helping animals effected by the tsunami. He got called to help get this gorgeous little porpoise out of a rice field. They released him right back into the sea as the local aquariums are damaged. "I don't know if it will survive, but it's much better than dying in a rice field, right? It's good," Ryo said. So good!

OK guys. Here's some pics. One is of a clay Narwhal I made and actually sold at work for $10....crazy huh? Next is the local cat that lives in the building, she's called 'Girl Cat' by her owners, and some call her 'Puddles' coz she drinks from puddles. Lastly there's some snow falling from the sky today.

New Year/New House!
Sorry for the delay in posts! I am happy to get some photos up here of our new place to show you all. Some images of around our house which we've loved setting up. New zine began last night whilst listening to Bat For Lashes - forgot her brilliance (nod to Gav). One of these photos is of my new beloved rocking chair. My sister is in a new city, my bro is STILL on holiday, my parents are hoping to survive even more gross weather on the way in Queensland, I am having multiple career epiphanies daily, Mara is studying and biking in -1 COLDNESS. As Des'ree would say, "Life, Oh Life".
