Childhood memories...

I had a great chat with my pal Kaylie last week about our favourite computer games. I told her about possibly my first love, Jill Of The Jungle. We only ever had a demo on our computer so I became an expert on the first two or three levels. After that I never knew how the game progressed. Don't feel like you have to watch the whole thing but at least skip to 2mins and 9seconds, here you'll see her climb a vine and witness the amazing soundscape. Actually watching it now is a little headache inducing. Kaylie and I also found common ground on the old birds-eye-view version of Grand Theft Auto. Again, a little headache inducing. Lastly, there's a clip of something that brings a tear to my eye. My brother campaigned for months in 1993 to get an Atari Lynx. He finally got one and we couldn't get enough of Surfing on California Games. Amazing soundtrack! Oh my god, and I promise this is the last one: Alex the Kid!!! Oh my god I would give anything to play this right now!

Interview a friend...

I thought this would be a really cool way to learn more about my pal Laura. We had heaps of fun making this interview at Trout Lake in Vancouver on a really sunny day last week. We had to write five questions for each other before we met, so the answers are totally spontaneous.
Hope you enjoy!

What a rad girl!

Today I was having a coffee and was approached by a rad girl who is working on a very interesting project. Her aim is to talk to a stranger each day and take a photo of one of their tattoo's. Very cool indeed. Here is the pic of mine today, and the link to her blog. Love it.

Short Lived

Finally I have uploaded the latest film I made! Shitty jobs are always hilarious to reflect back on, even though they are dire at the time. This is the story of Mark, Stam and Tracy, and their lamest jobs to-date. Enjoy. (sorry video quality is shit)

Vancouver - Beauty Capital of Canada

I love finding beauty salon's with amazing 80's signage. It is a hobby of mine to document such places. Here are some of my favourites from around Vancouver. Note Piassa's attention-grabbing plastic head with braids, clearly this gives them a competitive edge in the local scene. Mabel's actually offers ten-dollar haircuts and in a few weeks from now I intend to find out what these are like. Rebecca's Hair Design also deserve a mention for that gorgeous hand painted portrait of...Rebecca? Enjoy.

See The World

The 99 B-Line is a bus I catch all the time. It always amazes me how many interesting characters get on and off this bus. On this night, I had some drinks with my friend and I loved the way she used her hands when she spoke...then I caught the bus home. The man with the mustache and the cap looked so unshakable and thoughtful I couldn't take my eyes off him. I think everyone shared a moment when we were serenaded at a bus stop by a group of hippies. I am forever amazed by beauty in seemingly 'boring' life around us.

PINKY

Pinky is Vancouver's number one laundromat. This video captures the atmosphere of this unique place. The owner eating his dinner watching kung-fu movies in the background, the awesome fifites style 'Pinky' logo out front, the fake flowers, the noise of the collective dryers, the contemplative looks of my girlfriend waiting for her washing...this place has it all. I love how the mirror reflects nothing going on. To me Pinky is like life and the Ben Lee lyric 'A lot goes on, but nothing happens'.
